Delaware Colleges and Universities

 

Considering the size of Delaware, it should come as no surprise that there are only ten Delaware (DE) Colleges and Universities, five public and five private.  There are four four-year colleges including Goldey-Beacom College, the University of Delaware, Widener University and Wilmington University.  There are five two-year colleges including Beebe Hospital School of Nursing, Delaware College of Art and Design and three Delaware Technical and Community College campuses.  Those who want to attend graduate school can also consider Wesley College.

The University of Delaware, the Stanton/Wilmington campus of the Delaware Technical and Community College and Delaware State University are the top three schools in the state.  The University of Delaware is a large public school with more than 20,000 in its student body.  More than 75% of those students are undergraduates.  This school offers four degrees including associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctor’s.  Students can study in a number of programs like parks, recreation, leisure and fitness studies.

While there are also branches for Terry and Owen, the Stanton/Wilmington campus of the Delaware Technical and Community College is ranked as one of the top in the state.  This school offers less than one year certificates as well as one but less than two year certificates for it more than 7500 students.  One can also earn an associate’s degree.  There are many programs available at this school such as English language and literature/letters.

Delaware State University is another small school with less than 5000 students, just more than half from within the state.  Located in Delaware’s capital Dover, this school has 52 undergraduate degree programs, 25 master’s degree programs and five doctorate degree programs.  Most students at this school focus on business administration, psychology and mass communications.  These are things one needs to consider when looking into Delaware (DE) Colleges and Universities.
