Kansas State University
Located in Manhattan Kansas on 664 acres, Kansas State University is home to about 19,000 full time and part time students. The acceptance rate here is 98%. In-state tuition will run a student about $7,400, while out-of-state tuition runs $17,600. Out of students who applied for financial aid in the form of grants and loans, 81% were awarded some type of assistance, mainly student loans. Twenty-two percent of students at this school were in the top 10% of their high school graduating class. Kansas State University ranks #143 in US News Best Colleges report. K-State, as it is commonly referred to was founded in 1863. The student-faculty ratio is 21:1.
Wichita State University
Wichita State University does not have a published ranking in US News Best Colleges. It is located in Wichita, Kansas, and was founded in 1895. There are nearly 12,000 students enrolled here. Out-of-state tuition is nearly $14,000, while in-state is $6,000. Ninety percent of students who apply are accepted here. Interestingly, the school mascot for Wichita State is a bundle of wheat named WuShock. Students here used to earn money by shocking, or harvesting wheat, hence the mascot and its name. The student-faculty ratio is 20:1. The most popular majors at this school are related to business, management, marketing and related support services, followed by heath related degrees. Nearly 70% of students who applied for financial aid at this school received some type of assistance.
Bethel College
Founded in 1887, Bethel College ranks an impressive #17 on US News Best College report. This private institution has an undergraduate enrollment of 476 and sits on 90 acres in North Newton, Kansas. Tuition at this school is $21,700. Bethel is a liberal arts school that is affiliated with the Mennonite Church. The acceptance rate at this school is 76% and the student-faculty ratio is 11:1. Health professions and related programs are the most popular majors of recent graduates. At Bethel, 83% of students are able to receive some type of financial aid.
